Review ~ Patissez, Bangkok

Patissez is a restaurant originally from Canberra, Australia which opened it’s first Thailand branch just off Sukhumvit 39 a few months ago. Patissez is famous for its FreakShakes (a trademarked term I’ll have you know!) so I went with some friends to check it out.

The decor is nice and the restaurant has a funky, airy vibe to it. The menu is includes everything from breakfast items (with lots of avocado) to steak and burgers – I really was spoilt for choice. I went for the French toast and a ‘Mind’ juice – a delicious freshly pressed juice of dragon fruit, green apple and mint. Our table also ordered egg-based breakfast items, all of which got rave reviews. Service was efficient so before I knew it my toast had arrived – brioche with peach and orange slices and a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was delicious and light, not too sweet or stodgy as French toast can sometimes be.

We figured we couldn’t visit without trying a famous FreakShake so we ordered Mint Condition and Thai Freak. Both were delicious but probably too much for one person if you’ve had food as well! Next time I am totally trying the Pretzella – a Nutella and salted pretzel concoction!

Patissez is a great place – service is efficient but not in your face, the food’s fresh, tasty and reasonably priced and the FreakShakes add a whole other fun dimension! A definite breakfast destination, I just need to try it out for dinner now too!

Those FreakShakes are crazy. This past summer I had one that contained a whole SLICE of blueberry pie on top! Nearly a meal in itself. That French toast looks delicious too – how did you have room to finish all that?
