The second part of our Phuket holiday was during the late King of Thailand’s funeral and we weren’t really sure of the implications of that so thought it was a good opportunity to hole up in an Air BnB somewhere. The price of accommodation in Phuket through Airbnb is amazing and there is plenty to choose from. We were pretty spoilt for choice.
In the end, the spectacular views and modern living of this particular apartment near Layan Beach on the west coast of the island caught our eye. Transfers were included in the price, so we were met by a driver from the boat bringing us back from the Santhiya. We called in at Makro to pick up supplies en route to our accommodation although our lovely host had left us enough to be going on with! The complex was quite remote which didn’t bother us as we had no intentions of going anywhere but you would need a car/scooter/taxi if you needed to get anywhere.
We were met by our host, Nina who showed us around the incredible apartment, if anything it was even better than on the pictures and within five minutes we were in the pool with a beer ogling the spectacular view! Our host arranged a chef to come in the morning to cook us breakfast and then again in the evening to prepare our dinner which was honestly money so well spent. It seems to be quite a common service in villas and accommodation in Thailand so definitely use it if you can!
There was definitely a theme to our week away with my parents: gin and kindles! We spent the next few days swimming in the pool, sunbathing and drinking G&Ts! It wasn’t until the driver arrived to collect us at the end of our stay that we realised we hadn’t stepped foot outside the door, or even put on shoes since we arrived four days earlier! What a truly awesome way to relax!
